What is my purpose in life? Do you have a five year plan? Where are you going, what are you going to be when you grow up? It seems as though the moment we breathe fresh air into our lungs at birth the questions of purpose begin invading our lives. The resounding question that has burst forth in every life rings as true as ever, does anybody have a plan!
The answer is yes. If you have found yourself in a quagmire of existential questions then you are not backtracking. You are not going no where.
In Genesis God creates the earth, breathes life into man, and establishes a purpose for the man’s life. Man then falls into the temptation of pursuing life outside of God and finds himself cut off, cast out, and cursed. Where man once enjoyed the light of God’s presence he now finds himself shrouded in spiritual darkness. Thousands of years later we are still struggling in this darkness groping for purpose that can only be found in His presence. Is there a way back?
Genesis 1:1-2 gives us that way. If you find yourself mired in darkness then look up and hold on because the Spirit of God is hovering over your life and revelation is on its way. He established this pattern in the very beginning. First comes darkness, then comes light. First comes the Friday, then comes the Sunday. First comes the cross, then comes the resurrection. First comes death, then comes life. First come the questions, then come the answers.
