The narrative in Genesis 1 tells us that God made a point to stop and comment nearly every day on the goodness of that specific day. THE PROCESS MATTERS. The ends do not justify the means. Each day is intricately woven with the goodness of God. It is the goodness of God in the process that holds it all together and produces perfection.
He is building up to something. Day 1 creates the possibility for Day 2, 3, 4, 5. Now Day 6 is different because it is not just good but VERY good. What makes Day 6 different is that every other day God’s creations have the capacity to reflect His glory and His goodness, but only on Day 6 is something created that can express His goodness. It is the process that brings us to the expression.
Author Erwin McManus states it this way: “God designed you to be an expression of His goodness. Every time you perform a loving act; every time you choose an act of mercy, kindness, and servanthood; every time you alleviate human suffering and bring hope and joy into a person’s life you’ve expanded the good and increased the honor God receives for creating you in His image. God loves when his children reflect his character.” (Wide Awake)
The question of your life is not what am I going to be, but WHO am I going to be.
